“Yeah, there was some word out of Edmonton that, leading as much as this freeze that they’ve been having discussions with the Toronto Maple Leafs. I don’t know the specifics of where they’re going. I’m going to invest slightly bit. And it wasn’t (Toronto winger) Bobby McMann. I do know there was plenty of attention and plenty of speculation surrounding Bobby McMann going into the week.

I do know they hadn’t spoken about McMann, nevertheless it seems like perhaps it’s a (Toronto centre) Nic Roy. Possibly it’s an (Top 4 d-man) Oliver Ekman-Larsson. Those are two that I might not be shocked in the event that they’ve poked on. But I used to be told by a few those that the Oilers and Leafs had conversations leading as much as the deadline, the freeze, Deadline Jr. And that may be something to regulate, going out of the break and closer to actual D-Day.”

Adam Henrique and his $3 million cap hit can be returning soon, so that may complicate the Oilers cap situation even further.

The 34-year-old Ekman-Larsson has two years left at $3.5 million, and should make sense for the Oilers within the short-term. Would must move Mangiapane’s contract somewhere for the Oilers to even consider it. The fee to amass McMann could possibly be high given the variety of teams on the lookout for depth and someone with a cap hit of $1.35 million.
