Cricket To Return At M Chinnaswamy Stadium?

The Karnataka cabinet has approved holding Indian Premier League (IPL) matches on the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, following a suggestion from a government-appointed expert committee. Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar announced that the recommendations of the Justice John Michael D’Cunha Report shall be strictly implemented, including norms on ticketing, crowd regulation, and stadium access.

Cricket on the M Chinnaswamy Stadium has been suspended since June 2025, following a stampede during RCB’s IPL title celebration that resulted in 11 deaths and diverse injuries. Since that incident, high-profile tournaments, resembling the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup, have been relocated at short notice as a consequence of safety concerns.
