Matheus Cunha believes Manchester United are ‘starting to achieve our level’ and might ‘create something special’ with the assistance of their summer signings.

United were sixth when Ruben Amorim was sacked last month but have climbed back into the Champions League placed under caretaker boss Michael Carrick.

The Red Devils still have a protracted approach to go to get back to the degrees they reached under Sir Alex Ferguson, after they were consistently probably the most successful teams on the planet.

Cunha believes United are back on the appropriate track and says players like Bryan Mbeumo might help bring back the glory days to Old Trafford.

Mbeumo has arguably been Manchester United’s signing of the season, scoring ten goals in all competitions, including three in five games since since Amorim’s sacking.

Asked what ex-Brentford star Mbeumo brings to United, Cunha – who also joined the club last summer – told Premier League Productions: ‘A number of energy.

‘What a stunning guy. I’m around him on daily basis, he’s someone that’s fun. I at all times play against him and we talk concerning the games that we played previously, Brentford against Wolves.

‘But to be together now and help United is something that once we arrive here, we feel like, wow, we generally is a small a part of the success of the team. It’s something that could be a challenge that’s every part to us.

‘He’s very intelligent, he’s very clever. So he can use his strength very, superb, like going to space, he shoots so well, so good. That is the form of number nine we’d like to have.

‘After all, he’s someone that helped us a lot and it’s a pleasure to play with him. He’s greater than the position that he plays. Being around him within the pitch, we all know he can create something special.

‘For me, he’s never an underrated player because I put him so high. He gives me the expectation that I do know he can do.

‘I do know what I see, I do know what he does and to be around him [Bryan] is special. He’s such guy. So I can never say he’s underrated.

‘He’s so shy, he doesn’t speak much, but I speak French and I at all times speak with him. He’s the form of guy that, like I say, he’s special, I like to be around him and talking concerning the game, the life.

‘Truthfully, he finishes thoroughly. Every training, after training, we stay to do ending, so it’s at all times competition to have him, Bruno [Fernandes], Ben [Sesko], Josh [Zirkzee], everyone across the team.

‘I feel like we’re starting to achieve our level.’

Benjamin Sesko scored an injury-time equaliser as Manchester United maintained their unbeaten record under Carrick with a 1-1 draw against West Ham last day trip.

United have the weekend off on account of their early FA Cup elimination but return to Premier League motion next weekend against Everton.
