‘The Godfather’ Actor Robert Duvall Dead at 95

Hollywood is in mourning after legendary actor Robert Duvall passed away. The actor, who won his Oscar for the 1983 film “Tender Mercies,” was 95 years old, and his wife, Luciana Pedraza, announced his passing on social media. Along with “Tender Mercies,” Duvall is most famed for movies corresponding to “The Apostle,” “The Judge,” and “The Godfather.”

Duvall passed away on February 15, 2026. His wife, Pedraza, took to Facebook the next day to share the news. She wrote, “Yesterday we said goodbye to my beloved husband, cherished friend, and one among the best actors of our time. Bob passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by love and luxury.”

The grief-stricken wife continued, “To the world, he was an Academy Award-winning actor, a director, a storyteller. To me, he was simply every thing. His passion for his craft was matched only by his deep love for characters, a terrific meal, and holding court. For every of his many roles, Bob gave every thing to his characters and to the reality of the human spirit they represented.”

She concluded, “In doing so, he leaves something lasting and unforgettable to us all. Thanks for the years of support you showed Bob and for giving us this time and privacy to have fun the memories he leaves behind.”

Following the announcement of Duvall’s passing, a lot of his fans are taking to social media to recollect his legacy. One person said on Instagram, “One in all the best ever. RIP.” Another person wrote, “Wow, I remember Robert, and I having a drink and a protracted conversation, 50 years ago.RIP.”

Duvall, though best known for his screen work, began his acting profession on stage and appeared in productions corresponding to “A View from the Bridge.” After that, he got his start playing bit parts in Hollywood. Per IMDb, his first was the Sixties series “The Robert Herridge Theater,” through which he appeared in a single episode.

From there, he appeared in television shows and films corresponding to “Armstrong Circle Theatre,” “Playhouse 90,” “John Brown’s Raid,” and

“Great Ghost Tales.” Nonetheless, his big break didn’t come until 1962, when he played Boo Radley in “To Kill a Mockingbird.” After that, Duvall continued, later encountering the roles that may make him a star.

Duvall wore many hats during his 95 years. One in all them was the role of husband. He married his first wife, Barbara Benjamin, in 1964. They were married until 1975. After that, he married Gail Youngs, with whom he was married for 4 years, starting in 1982. He was then married to his third wife, Sharon Brophy, from 1991 until 1995.

After that, he and Pedraza married in 2005 and remained married until his death. Duvall leaves behind no children.
