In keeping with Deadline, on Thursday, February 19, it was announced that “The Jennifer Hudson Show” will proceed with a fifth season set to premiere in the autumn.

“Jennifer Hudson is a strong force on all platforms and works incredibly well with all of our stations. We’re excited to have her back for 12 months five,” EVP of Programming for Fox Television Stations, Frank Cicha, said in an announcement.

“The Jennifer Hudson Show” is “the #1 daytime talk show on TikTok and Threads, and the second-most-followed daytime talk show across social media,” per the outlet. Moreover, the preferred element of the show, the addictive Spirit Tunnel, has surpassed over 6 billion views across social media platforms.

‘The Jennifer Hudson Show’ Renewal Follows The End Of Shows Helmed By Sherri Shepherd And Kelly Clarkson

On Tuesday, February 3, per Variety, it was confirmed that “Sherri” had been cancelled after 4 seasons and production would officially wrap up in the autumn. Debmar-Mercury, which distributes the show through producer Lionsgate, issued an announcement confirming the news.

“This decision is driven by the evolving daytime television landscape and doesn’t reflect on the strength of the show, its production – which has found strong creative momentum this season – or the incredibly talented Sherri Shepherd,” Debmar-Mercury co-presidents Ira Bernstein and Mort Marcus via joint statement.

“We imagine on this show and in Sherri and intend to explore alternatives for it on other platforms,” the statement continued.

“Sherri” premiered in fall 2022, initially taking up the time slot of the long-running “Wendy Williams Show.”

“This was not a simple decision, but this season shall be my last hosting ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show.’ Stepping away from the day by day schedule will allow me to prioritize my kids, which feels vital and right for this next chapter of our lives,” she said in an announcement.

The “American Idol” winner closed her statement by thanking her fans: “I would like to thank y’all a lot for allowing our show to be a component of your lives, and for believing in us and hanging with us for seven incredible years.”

The Daytime Talk Show Landscape Is Currently Suffering From Shifting Viewing Habits

Although “The View” continues to take care of its long-standing primary rating, daytime talk show rankings overall have continued a steep decline throughout the years, despite talk shows being led by big names reminiscent of Jennifer Hudson, Drew Barrymore, and Tamron Hall.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, “the marketplace for daytime talk shows (and admittedly, TV talk shows usually) has deteriorated lately amid pay-TV declines, a difficult promoting environment and fierce competition from video podcasts on platforms like YouTube.”

On Monday, February 16, Jennifer Hudson was among the many highly-decorated honorees on the tenth annual American Black Film Festival Honors, which also recognized this 12 months’s multi-Oscar nominee Ryan Coogler and fellow nominee Angela Bassett.

During her acceptance speech while receiving the Renaissance Award, Hudson spoke of learning from the legends that got here before her.

“I’m a dreamer, and I’m very curious and at all times a student. So I get to sit down and learn each and day by day from everybody, and it’s a present. And even once we fail, sometimes that’s not a negative thing, because once we do it’s a lesson, and learning a lesson is positive. It’s only going to enable you to grow,” she said, per Forbes.

Jennifer Hudson goes back to her roots, because it was recently announced that she has signed on to provide a “Dreamgirls” revival on Broadway, based on Rolling Stone.

This 12 months marks 20 years since she made her feature film debut, and snagged an Oscar in the method, for enjoying Effie White within the “Dreamgirls” film adaptation.

“This fall, ‘Dreamgirls’ is coming back to Broadway for the very first time since its opening 45 years ago in 1981,” Hudson said announcing the project. “Now, it’s being reimagined for an entire latest generation, which I’m so enthusiastic about.”

“Now, I finally get to inform you that I’m a producer on the team for the revival of this iconic musical! There’s going to be so way more to share in time, but I’ve been having a lot fun working with this amazing team, and I cannot wait to share the incredible production this fall,” Hudson added.
