Boxing legend Butterbean continues to be on the lookout for an opponent for his comeback fight.
The heavyweight knockout artist – real name Eric Esch – hasn’t fought since June 2013.
Butterbean spent a spell of his retirement in a wheelchair after ballooning as much as 515lbs.
Now, the 59-year-old is planning a return to the ring after shedding greater than 220lbs.
Butterbean vs Hafþór Björnsson
Earlier this week, it was confirmed that Ronda Rousey will return from her 10-year MMA retirement.
The previous UFC bantamweight champion will face fellow fight legend Gina Carano on May 16.
They’ll compete in Most Beneficial Promotion’s first-ever MMA bout, which is able to stream live to tell the tale Netflix.
Butterbean wants a slot on Ronda Rousey’s undercard on the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California.
In his social media pitch, he suggested former ‘World’s Strongest Man’ Hafþór Björnsson as his comeback opponent.
“Gina Carano vs. Ronda Rousey? AWESOME,” Butterbean wrote on Instagram.
“But let me ask you something…Who desires to see Butterbean vs. Hafthor Bjornsson —boxing rules— on the identical massive card?!
“May sixteenth. The Intuit Dome. Netflix. Let’s make it historic. Dwayne Johnson, Diamond Dallas Page, Bas Rutten, Sylvester Stallone, Mike Tyson. Join me in my corner! Jake Paul…Most Beneficial Promotions… Let’s make it occur!”
Butterbean’s last fight with a strongman legend
Butterbean vs ‘World’s Strongest Man’ is a fight we saw under MMA rules in September 2010.
The boxing icon squared off against strongman legend Mariusz Pudzianowski at KSW 14.
Butterbean was taken down and battered with punches until he tapped out after just 75 seconds.
Nevertheless, he was out of practice, weighing 440 lbs before his fight with Pudzianowski in Poland.
With so much less weight to hold and boxing rules on his side, Butterbean could redeem himself against Hafþór Björnsson.
It’s currently unclear if Björnsson is considering the fight or if Jake Paul’s promotion would sanction it.
