On February 15, Walmart opened up preorders for the cute Hatchin’ Yoshi Toy from Spin Master. I jumped on it as soon as I saw it available, officially placing my order at 7:32 AM Pacific. I checked on it for several hours afterward, including on the time of the post I published at 9:48 AM Pacific, and preorders were still available throughout the morning and into the early afternoon. Despite that, nonetheless, my preorder was canceled today, February 22, together with the orders of others who’re reporting the identical on Reddit.
Much more frustrating, I do know individuals who placed an order long after me who received their shipment. Plainly Walmart, once more, didn’t care about inventory or fulfilling orders within the order they were received. I originally thought the corporate was favoring Walmart+ subscribers, but that doesn’t look like the case, as some Reddit users have confirmed to me they were Walmart+ subscribers and their orders were also canceled.
Meanwhile, Walmart is letting resellers sell the Hatchin’ Yoshi Toy for triple its normal retail price and has no problems with that. Truthfully, the world was a greater place when scalpers only paid attention to sneakers. It’s unbelievable that folks can’t even get their hands on a children’s toy anymore.
I reached out to Walmart customer support and didn’t get any real answer. Not that I used to be expecting one. Considering all of that’s outsourced as of late, and so they just follow a click-by-click playbook. But no less than it wasn’t AI, since one in all the reps sympathized with me, saying the identical thing happens to them in the case of Pokémon cards and it’s equally annoying. Wait a minute… that’s what an AI would say to make me think they weren’t AI.
