Demetrious Johnson believes Dana White is just attempting to ‘flex’ by paying Conor Benn $15 million

Former UFC star Demetrious Johnson believes Conor Benn’s reported $15 million signing to Zuffa Boxing might just be a public flex from Dana White.

Earlier this week, it was announced that Dana White had made the marquee signing of Conor Benn to his Zuffa Boxing stable.

Following the announcement of his signing, reports began to surface, claiming that ‘The Destroyer’s’ contract is value $15 million for only a single fight within the promotion.

Former UFC star Demetrious Johnson, though, believes that might just be White attempting to flex his proverbial muscles.

Demetrious Johnson questions Conor Benn’s $15 million signing

‘Mightymouse’ has questioned the legitimacy of Benn’s $15 million deal, comparing it to the present pay of a few of the UFC’s biggest current stars.

“$15 million for one fight is crazy because what’s gonna occur after this fight?” Johnson questioned in a video on his YouTube channel.

“Is the $15 million value having Conor Benn? It’s the primary time I’ve heard of him. From what everybody is telling me, he’s a superb boxer. But is Khamzat Chimaev making $15 million? Is Ilia Topuria making $15 million? Is Merab Dvalishvili making $15 million?

“We don’t know because those numbers are all the time hidden, but I really imagine it’s a flex from Dana White, paying Conor Benn $15 million,” Johnson continued.

Since his exit from the premier MMA promotion in 2018, the previous UFC flyweight champion has been outspoken on the UFC’s practices on several occasions.

Sean O’Malley also questioned Conor Benn’s deal

Johnson wasn’t the just one to query the choice to sign Benn to such an enormous contract.

Former UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley also offered his response to the deal, claiming that he doesn’t know who the British boxer is.

Fortunately for the UFC and White, this seemingly hasn’t caused much of a problem with the wide portion of the roster yet, nonetheless, O’Malley did showcase a slight anger towards the difference in pay between Benn and the UFC’s big stars.
