Sean O’Malley is probably the greatest fighters within the UFC, but has managed to avoid developing ‘cauliflower ear’ like most MMA stars.
The previous bantamweight champion has been training and competing for over 13 years, including 16 UFC fights of which 4 were for a world title. Nevertheless, he is healthier known for striking than grappling, and has stopped 13 of his 19 wins.
And O’Malley appears to have evaded the injury which is common on any high level fighter by focusing his attentions more on striking than grappling even in training, which has given him a more energizing look.

Sean O’Malley explains how he avoided cauliflower ear
One thing that has differentiated Sean O’Malley from other rising stars of his era is a capability to attach with younger fans. He is commonly involved with streamers, boxers and celebrities from other walks of life that help to expand his brand.
And it was no different when he invited the controversial streamer N3on to his gym for a training session. After clowning on the social media star and pulling his pants down, the pair chatted about a lot of topics.
One which got here up was how O’Malley, unlike other top fighters, appears to have relatively untouched ears. He joked that his ability to avoid grappling – at times by simply giving up – has meant that he avoided the dreaded cauliflower ear.
“Do I appear like I do know learn how to wrestle?” O’Malley asked the streamer. “You get that from wrestling, I don’t wrestle.” When N3on noted that he would should wrestle to fight within the UFC, O’Malley replied: “Not me, I’ve never wrestled a day in my life.”
Asked what he would do when an opponent gets on top of him, O’Malley answered that “I just lay there and get beat up until the tip of the round. You ever watch my fights?”
O’Malley has, after all, faced multiple high-level wrestlers including two fights with Merab Dvalishvili where he was forced to grapple over a collective eight rounds. Nevertheless, he did lose each of those bouts; one by submission and one by unanimous decision.
