It’s a 400ft-long luxury yacht that comes with a helipad and a floating lounge.

However the inspiration for the most recent state-of-the-art vessel to take to the high seas could also be slightly surprising.

The yacht is called after the deadly mako shark and its design relies on the creature’s sleek, powerful lines combined with the softer shapes made by ocean waves.

The mako is the fastest shark within the sea and has been dubbed the cheetah of the ocean, reaching speeds of between 40 and 45mph.

With a top speed of 58mph, its namesake is able to outrunning it.

It’s being marketed by design group State Of Craft as an explorer vessel with the capability of difficult polar expeditions.

However it also comes with an enormous array of luxury features designed to creature a home-from-home.

These include a novel floating lounge and a swimming pool on the foredeck with dramatic views.

The Pavilion is an area above the highest deck which will be used as a sky observatory, panoramic lounge, fitness studio, or yoga space.

On the aft deck is a sunken, soft seating area that gives 270-degree views. At the guts of the vessel is a light-filled and double-height studio.

State of Craft’s principal and founder, Daniel Goldberg, said: ‘The efficiency and fantastic thing about the sleek, sculptural shapes of mako sharks served as an early inspiration for the concept.

‘I wanted the hull and superstructure, interior and exterior spaces, to all be highly integrated into an overall volume with a continuous surface.’

The Mako has zero carbon emissions due to the yacht’s hydrogen fuel cells, electric engines, batteries, and solar panels.

There may be a helipad on the foredeck which allows a craft to land safely and be stored within the garage below deck by way of a platform lift.

The Mako can also be equipped with garage doors so tender boats will be moored contained in the vessel.
