Manchester United legend Bryan Robson believes each Elliot Anderson and Adam Wharton can be an ideal fit for the club’s midfield rebuild this summer.

Signing no less than one recent midfielder might be a top priority this summer at Old Trafford. Casemiro is ready to go away when his contract expires at the top of the season and while Kobbie Mainoo’s future looks brilliant once more, reinforcements are needed.

United are thought to have made Nottingham Forest star Anderson their top goal with the 23-year-old, also admired by Manchester City, expected to have a key role to play for England on the World Cup this summer.

Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton is another choice while United have already tried to sign Carlos Baleba from Brighton this season.

Each of those three players is predicted to fetch an enormous transfer fee but former United captain Robson would expect them to be receptive to a suggestion to come back to Manchester.

While there could also be cheaper alternatives on the continent, Robson believes Anderson and Wharton fit the bill for what United need in the midst of the park.

‘I believe Adam Wharton and Elliot Anderson would definitely fit the standards for what Manchester United need in the summertime,’ Robson told BOYLE Sports, who offer the latest football odds.

‘They’re each homegrown too and that’s essential. It’s good to have a British core throughout the club.

‘But foreign players do good at United too and there’s a great deal of them throughout the world that they’ll be scouting so there may be a player on the market who’s young and has that ability to develop into a Declan Rice or Wharton or an Anderson.

‘Adam Wharton and Elliot Anderson are each good players. It’s about how much they’re going to cost.

‘You’ve got to have a look at that to see whether you may buy one in every of them because I believe they might each fit this United side well.
