Caoimhin Kelleher has been disregarded of the Brentford squad taking over Burnley within the Premier League this afternoon.
Brentford need to bounce back from their 2-0 defeat to Brighton last weekend and keep alive their hopes of European football next season.
Keith Andrews’ side start the day in seventh place, but could cut the gap between themselves and fifth-place Chelsea to simply two points with a win at Turf Moor against relegation-threatened Burnely.
Nevertheless, the Bees have been dealt a serious blow before kick-off after Kelleher was not named within the squad making the trip up north to tackle Scot Parker’s side.
The Republic of Ireland goalkeeper has been ever-present this season since joining from Liverpool over the summer.
Nevertheless, thankfully for Brentford, the 27-year-old’s absence shouldn’t be injury-related and as a substitute a results of his partner giving birth.
Speaking before kick-off, Andrews said: ‘Caoimhin’s partner had a baby. We’re delighted for them and we wish them well but he couldn’t play today.’
