India chased down the goal of 196 runs in 19.2 overs on Sunday (March 1) to get the higher of the West Indies in Kolkata and book a spot within the semifinals of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. Within the fixture played at Eden Gardens, Sanju Samson played an unbeaten knock of 97 runs from 50 balls after Jasprit Bumrah’s 2/36 in 4 overs restricted the Men in Maroon to 195/4 in 20 overs.
India needed a win against the West Indies team in Kolkata on Sunday to pip Shai Hope’s men within the Super 8s Group 1 points table and book a spot within the semifinals.
Within the semifinals of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, India will face England now. England topped the Super 8s Group 2 points table by winning all three matches, and in consequence, they may tackle the second-best team of Group 1.
The semi-final match between India and England will probably be played on the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday (March 5).

Meanwhile, the primary semifinal of the T20 World Cup 2026 will probably be played between South Africa and Recent Zealand at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Wednesday (March 4).
South Africa have already defeated Recent Zealand once within the T20 World Cup 2026 (on February 14 in Ahmedabad by 7 wickets), and on the day of Holi, the Proteas would really like to repeat the result.
Then again, Kiwis will aim to settle the scores by bringing an end to South Africa’s perfect win record within the tournament and qualifying for the ultimate of the T20 World Cup after five years.
