Sean O’Malley will meet with UFC this week to debate next fight plans amid speculation

Sean O’Malley is planning to finally lock in a plan for his next fight when he meets with the UFC in Las Vegas this week.

The previous bantamweight champion is certainly one of the most important stars in MMA, but appears to be unaware of what plans are for his next move. After losing his belt to Merab Dvalishvili in addition to a right away rematch, he returned to winning ways in January.

His win over Song Yadong on the primary UFC event to air on Paramount appeared to get him back into the world title discussion. And with a win over current champion Petr Yan on his record, he’s in a great position inside the division.

Sean O’Malley plans UFC meeting for this week

Despite being certainly one of the most important names on the energetic UFC roster, Sean O’Malley appears to have been told next to nothing about his plans for this yr. He doesn’t appear to be on the cardboard for the large UFC White House event, although he could be keen to look.

And speaking with The Schmo ahead of an enormous week headlined by UFC 326 in Las Vegas, O’Malley revealed that he should know more details soon. “I don’t know,” he replied when asked if he could be the subsequent contender for Petr Yan’s belt after the Russian recovers from back surgery.

“I haven’t talked to the UFC, I don’t know what is happening. White House card? Petr’s out? I don’t know what is happening to be honest. I even have to refer to the UFC, I’m going to go and refer to them on March 6.

“I don’t know if I’m going to learn anything but I’m going to go and chat to them. I’m going to go to Vegas, watch the fights and I’m excited.”

Yan has stated his intent to get a rematch with O’Malley after their meeting in October of 2022 resulted in a controversial split decision for the American. And now that he holds the belt, it might be an ideal opportunity for the pair to headline.
