The St. Louis Blues asking price for Robert Thomas is astronomical, appropriately
TSN: The St. Louis Blues are listening on all their core players, but Robert Thomas is at the highest of the list as he’s a No. 1 center, and the worth stays ‘astronomical for Thomas, in response to Pierre LeBrun.
“I’m not convinced that it’s going to lower that much by Friday’s deadline, because again, the Blues don’t must move him. As one team executive told me: Is that this in regards to the Blues really getting a full sense of the marketplace for him after which circling back within the off-season on a whole lot of these discussions?
It could possibly be, but I can even say this: I also talked to a different team executive who was actually convinced that Thomas will move by Friday’s deadline. So we will see.”
NHL Rumors: Jets, and the Predators
The most recent surrounding Robert Thomas
TSN: Darren Dreger reported Tuesday afternoon, and on Insider Trading, that the trade talks involving Robert Thomas between the Buffalo Sabres and Blues heated up. They’re not right on the finish line, but all it takes in a single call.
“We all know that there’s been a ton of conversations around Thomas with Blues general manager Doug Armstrong. Some serious contenders, more tire kickers, but at this point it does feel just like the Sabres are the frontrunner.”
Chris Johnston adds that the Blues are on the lookout for three or 4 “premium assets” for Thomas. Which is why the Sabres could possibly be the front-runners here.
“What I can inform you with the Sabres is the idea is that they have gotten into that range where we’re talking a few package of picks, players and prospects that gets to about 4 players.”
The Sabres are also on the lookout for a defenseman, and the Blues have several that could possibly be available. One other thing to think about.
NHL Rumors: Recent York Islanders, Vancouver Canucks, Buffalo Sabres, and the St. Louis Blues
Pierre LeBrun adds that the high asking price is probably going an excessive amount of for the Montreal Canadiens. The perimeters did talk, but the worth didn’t make sense for the Canadiens side at this point – Michael Hage, David Reinbacher, plus, plus.
