Legendary Indian player Kapil Dev praised India’s top fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah for his exceptional spell against England within the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup in Mumbai on Friday, calling him the primary bowler on this planet.
Kapil emphasised that Bumrah’s ability to perform under pressure earns him great respect. He also commended Indian wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson for his consecutive fifties within the tournament, remarking that Samson played splendidly.
India is on the verge of creating history on the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, having edged past England to achieve the ultimate. India will now face Recent Zealand for the title on Sunday in Ahmedabad. Bumrah concluded his spell with a wicket, conceding only 33 runs in 4 overs, while other Indian bowlers were severely hit by the England batters.
“It was a victory for the sport of cricket. I believe he (Jasprit Bumrah) is the primary bowler on this planet. The best way he performs under pressure, he deserves to get respect. Sanju Samson played wonderful cricket within the last two games. The ultimate match is remaining. Yes, individuals are essential, but when a team plays, you witness victory,” Kapil Dev was quoted as saying to reporters.
India set a formidable goal of 253-7 while batting first, because of Sanju Samson’s 42-ball 89. Nevertheless, England, led by Jacob Bethell’s century, remained in contention for many of the match. The turning point got here within the 18th over when Jasprit Bumrah bowled brilliantly, conceding just six runs, with England needing 45 from the ultimate three overs.
