The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) congratulated Team India on winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, defeating Recent Zealand in the ultimate on the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
India secured a commanding 96-run victory within the decisive match, lifting the trophy in front of a packed home crowd.
This victory marks a historic achievement as India successfully defended the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup title, becoming the primary team within the tournament’s history to retain the trophy. Moreover, India became the primary nation to win the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup on home soil, making the occasion much more memorable for tens of millions of fans.
Led by captain Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian team showcased fearless and dynamic cricket throughout the tournament. With explosive batting, disciplined bowling, and outstanding fielding, the team maintained consistency across all phases of the competition and delivered under pressure when it mattered most.
The BCCI also praised head coach Gautam Gambhir and your entire support staff for his or her leadership, planning, and preparation, which helped shape a confident and well-balanced side able to performing under pressure.
