Wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson played a giant role in India‘s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 title win. The 31-year-old cricketer from Kerala played five matches for the Suryakumar Yadav-led side within the 2026 edition of the lads’s shortest format mega-event and, with the assistance of three half-centuries, scored 321 runs. He registered scores of 97* from 50 balls against the West Indies within the Super 8s match, 89 from 42 balls against England within the second semifinal at Wankhede Stadium and 89 from 46 balls against Recent Zealand in the ultimate played on Sunday (March 8) at Narendra Modi Stadium. For his super show with the bat in three must-win matches for the hosts, Samson won the Player Of The Tournament award.
A day after India became the primary team on this planet to defend their T20 World Cup title, Samson took to Instagram to share a post for his wife, Charulatha Remesh. Sanju shared a pair of images of the couple and penned a special note wherein he credited Charulatha for being by his side.

Thanks so very much for being by my side,loving me for who I’m and being absolutely true and honest to me regardless of what i used to be to the surface world..Seeing my best side,seeing my worst side,,you’ve got seen all of it and still stood strong by me..!! Samson breaks Kohli’s record
Within the T20 World Cup 2026, Samson broke multiple batting records. He finished the tournament with a complete of 321 runs, which is a record of most runs by an Indian batter in a T20 World Cup edition. The previous record of most runs for India in a single edition of the T20 World Cup was held by Virat Kohli. Kohli played six matches for India within the 2014 T20 World Cup and amassed a complete of 319 runs.
Within the 2026 T20 World Cup, Samson hammered a complete of 24 sixes, which is a record of most sixes by a batter in a single edition of the lads’s shortest format mega-event.
