Peter Berce: “The identical thing goes with the Devils. The Recent Jersey Devils fans aren’t sure what the direction is with Tom Fitzgerald, after which him saying that I didn’t really look to pedal Dougie Hamilton. The Devils were quiet on the deadline, Dave.”
Dave Pagnotta: “They were also engaged in, like a number of teams, there was a number of activity, throughout the day and throughout the week. But obviously, everybody wants motion. Yeah, the Devils, just they were engaged. They were talking. They were in search of a primary line caliber player. I feel they were more so fishing in the larger ponds.
NHL Rumors: Will Recent Jersey Devils Trade Simon Nemec Or Any Other Defensemen?
And Simon Nemec, his name, popped up a couple of times. And I feel certainly one of the explanation why there isn’t an appetite, but a minimum of a willingness to hearken to Simon Nemec again, they’re in search of a first-line calibre player. So in the event that they were going to maneuver Nemec, it was going to be for that.
And a part of the rationale why it appeared like they were comfortable in stepping into that direction, in moving out a body on that back end, a young body on that back end, is because they’ve Anton Silayev, who’s in Russia straight away, 19 years old, left shot D doing well over there. The anticipation is that he’s going to be with the team or signing with the team after his season.
His contract in Russia expires, I imagine it expires after the season, and I’m pretty sure they’re going to take a robust take a look at getting him over to this side of the pond to be with the Devils organization in some fashion. So look out for that in the summertime or spring perhaps. However it looks like that’s something that’s going to be on the horizon. Now. He’s a left shot. Nemec is correct.
Then, (Jonas) Siegenthaler, his name was also on the market. They were listening on him. (Johnathan) Kovacevic, I feel, to a certain degree, although he has a full no-trade. But they’d some pieces that they were willing to speak about. They usually again were in search of that first-line piece. I feel that’s something they’ll resume in the summertime.”
NHLRumors.com Note: It is obvious that Simon Nemec’s time with the Recent Jersey Devils could possibly be coming to an end. As GM Tom Fitzgerald said on Friday, following the trade deadline, he is part of our organization until he shouldn’t be. There may be a belief that he’s willing and open to a trade. Nemec is an RFA and has seen what Luke Hughes got and could possibly be asking for similar. Nemec just wants a chance to play more minutes.
NHL Rumors: Rangers, Trocheck, Schmaltz, Hurricanes, and a Trade Got here In Too Late
No matter what happened with Hamilton, the Recent Jersey Devils pays his signing bonus on July 1 of $7.4 million and take a look at to maneuver him. But they need to make a hockey trade that is smart. Is William Eklund that impactful first-line calibre forward for the Devils? Recent Jersey should move Nemec in a deal for a Jordan Kyrou, Robert Thomas, or someone of that ilk.
Again, Fitzgerald is in sync with Devils ownership and David Blitzer, so it would be interesting to see what moves he makes and if he’s there.
