WWE Superstar Lyra Valkyria suffered one other pinfall loss during this week’s episode of WWE RAW, continuing a rough stretch for the previous champion.
Valkyria competed in a multi-woman gauntlet match to find out the primary contender for the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship. In the course of the bout, she was eliminated via pinfall by IYO SKY.
The gauntlet match was ultimately won by Bayley, who secured the chance to challenge current champion AJ Lee for the Intercontinental Championship on next week’s episode of RAW.
Throughout the match, commentary from Michael Cole specifically highlighted Valkyria’s recent losing streak. For longtime WWE viewers, that style of on-air acknowledgment often signals that the corporate could also be constructing toward a bigger storyline development.
The commentary lines up with recent reports a couple of possible creative shift for Valkyria. Last month, Bodyslam+ reported that WWE had internally discussed giving Valkyria a personality makeover. In keeping with the report, the proposed direction would see her adopt a more aggressive persona, driven by frustration over her and Bayley being repeatedly “neglected” throughout the women’s division.
