Ishan Kishan’s response goes viral
World Champion Ishan Kishan received a rousing reception on his arrival in Patna. Fans stacked up in numbers to catch a glimpse of the wicketkeeper-batter, while media personnel also gathered to talk to him. Nonetheless, the 27-year-old got visibly frustrated when he was asked for his response to former cricketer Kirti Azad’s comments on taking the T20 World Cup trophy to a temple post victory.
Trinamool Congress MP and 1983 World Cup winner Kirti Azad has raised concerns, emphasising that sports and sportspersons aren’t defined by religion or caste.
On X, Azad’s post garnered significant attention, condemning the present Team India and recalling the varied 1983 World Cup squad: “SHAME ON TEAM INDIA! After we won the World Cup under Kapil Dev in 1983, we had Hindu, Sikhs, and Christians within the team. We brought the trophy to our religious birthplace, our motherland India, Bharat, Hindustan.”

Upon arriving in Patna earlier on Tuesday, Ishan Kishan was questioned about Azad’s statements. Annoyed by the query, he promptly addressed the reporter’s inquiry.

He continued, urging the reporters to ask more relevant questions, “Acha sawal kijye, kaisa maja aaya (Ask higher questions, reminiscent of how much did we enjoyed).”
When one other journalist interrupted to ask how much Kishan enjoyed the victory, he replied, “Yeh acha query hua, bekar query puch liye aap (That is a very good query, you asked a useless query).”
