Jennifer Lopez is opening up about how she picked herself back up after going through her third divorce.
Speaking onstage recently at her Up All Night residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Lopez, 56, who ended her 10-year marriage to singer Marc Anthony in 2014, shared the recommendation that helped her get through the difficult period.
After quipping that getting divorced for a 3rd time was “once I began getting really good at it,” the multi-hyphenate turned more serious for a moment.
“It was actually a extremely tough time. I used to be really about to offer up on all of it. I used to be a single mom with two 3-year-old twins,” she said recently, per footage posted on social media. “I called up considered one of my mentors. Her name was [motivational speaker and author] Louise Hay, [and] she passed away. She said to me, ‘Jennifer, you’re a dancer, right?’ I said, ‘Yes, I’m.’ She said, ‘Once you’re learning a dance and also you get the steps fallacious, what do you do?’ I said, ‘I just keep going till I get the steps right.’ She said, ‘That’s right, Jennifer. At all times keep dancing.’”
“I wish the identical for each considered one of you, that regardless of what life throws at you, you dance and also you dance and also you dance, repeatedly and again,” Lopez said, segueing into her hit song “Dance Again” because the audience cheered.
Lopez and Anthony, 57, share twins Max and Emme, who turned 18 in February.
The singer marked the occasion with a sweet Instagram tribute to her children last month, sharing photos and residential videos of Max and Emme.
“You were born in the midst of the night, within the midst of the most important, most beautiful snowstorm NY had seen in years!!” Lopez wrote. “I remember riding within the automotive and searching out the window, where every thing was twinkling and covered in white that night, as I held you each in my belly for the previous few moments before I gave birth to you.”
“It was as if God was ensuring you’d enter a world stuffed with pure magic!! In my heart, I knew that’s how your life would all the time be!!” she continued.
“Once I would hold you as infants, I truthfully felt as if I were holding two angels sent straight from heaven above,” Lopez added. “My life was modified without end. I cannot imagine you are actually adults … 18 years old! You might be each so kind-hearted, generous, and loving.”
“How lucky the world was on at the present time 18 years ago when God decided to send you here with all your talents and spirit and heart to make this world a greater place, because that’s what you do for me and anyone who’s lucky enough to know you each every single day,” Lopez wrote. “‘I really like you’ could never encapsulate the depth of feeling, affection, and care that I even have for you, my coconuts. It has all the time been the three of us!”
