Bully Ray Explains Why He Was ‘Blissful’ And ‘Unhappy’ After WWE SmackDown Title Match

Cody Rhodes regained the WWE Championship from Drew McIntyre on “WWE SmackDown,” a call Bully Ray has backed, however the WWE Hall of Famer is not completely satisfied with one aspect of the match.

The match between Rhodes and McIntyre saw the 2 battle inside and outdoors the ring, with Rhodes even being put through a table. The shortage of a stipulation, Ray argued on “Busted Open,” was something that bothered him in regards to the world title clash.

“I used to be completely satisfied with that television world championship match and I used to be unhappy with that television world championship match. The unhappy doesn’t have anything to do with Cody or Drew. It has to do with the principles, the regulations, and the dearth of stipulations. And I even have the identical problem with Cody and Drew’s match, the stipulations on that match, that I had with Kenny Omega and Okada at Wrestle Kingdom,” he said. “But so far as a television primary event is worried, mission achieved.”

While many have criticized McIntyre’s loss to Rhodes, just just a few weeks after he had won the WWE Championship from “The American Nightmare,” Ray has backed the title change, calling it a “smart idea.”

“I even have zero problems with this creative decision. I even have zero problems with this alteration of direction. None. I believe it was an important idea. Ignore great idea, I believe it was a wise idea. I believe it was a ‘best for business’ idea. And at the top of the day, it makes for a considerably higher story,” he said.

Rhodes’ win, his third WWE world title, implies that he’ll face the winner of the lads’s Elimination Chamber match, Randy Orton. Ray is happy for the Orton and Rhodes clash at “The Show of Shows,” but before that showdown, he’s desirous to see them come face-to-face on “SmackDown,” which he says is comparable to the joy he felt when CM Punk and Roman Reigns met head-to-head on “Raw.”
