Peter Schmeichel has claimed that Liam Rosenior has told Filip Jorgensen that he’s his first-choice goalkeeper for Chelsea.
Robert Sanchez has began the vast majority of Chelsea’s matches this season however the Spaniard was dropped for the 4-1 win away to Aston Villa earlier this month, and he was named on the bench for the Champions League last-16 first leg against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday night.
Chelsea managed to equalise twice against PSG on the Parc des Princes but a mistake from Jorgensen directly led to Vitinha’s goal which put the Champions League holders back in front before Khvicha Kvaratskhelia scored twice late on to seal a 5-2 win for Luis Enrique’s side.
Liam Rosenior is now under pressure to drop Jorgensen ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League match at home to Newcastle on Saturday.
But speaking before Chelsea’s defeat to PSG, Schmeichel claimed on CBS Sports that Jorgensen is now Rosenior’s preferred selection ahead of Sanchez.
‘There may be a change within the goalkeeping situation there as well,’ Schmeichel said.

‘Sanchez has played the majority of the games in tournaments this season. He has now been replaced by, a Danish guy by the best way, Filip Jorgensen.
‘My information is that Liam Rosenior has told Filip Jorgensen that he’s any further his number-one selection.’
Speaking after Chelsea’s defeat to PSG, Rosenior was adamant that each Sanchez and Jorgensen have the standard to be a first-choice goalkeeper for Champions League games.
‘Yes, each of them,’ Rosenior said.
‘They’ve different qualities. Rob is outstanding from crosses, an impressive shot-stopper. I’m attempting to win within the short term and win in the long run as well.
‘Filip has different qualities and one in all his qualities, which he showed against Aston Villa, one in all the explanations we won 4-1 at Aston Villa, we were so calm in our possession moments, which we weren’t before, not only on Rob but on the entire team.
‘Coming here against a extremely high-pressing team, when you stay calm and play through the initial pressure, you’ll be able to cause plenty of problems, which we did. It’s just painful that we’ve made that mistake in that moment to make the sport 3-2 and now we’re in a really, very difficult position on this tie now with the tip result.’
When asked about Jorgensen’s response within the dressing room after his error against the Champions League holders, Rosenior said: ‘I believe the very first thing, credit to him, he held his hands up within the dressing room.
‘Mistakes occur, I make mistakes. Everybody makes mistakes. Sometimes they’re more costly and more painful than other times. That is one in all those moments.
‘What we now have to do for Rob and for Filip and for the entire players is take care of one another. It is a big test of our character. We have now an enormous game in two days against Newcastle that we’d like to get back for. I would like to see the true response, the resilience in the following game.’
