Kamaru Usman tempted by offer to wrestle Bo Nickal in RAF: ‘I would like to make a phone call’

Welterweight legend Kamaru Usman could change into the newest UFC fighter returning to his wrestling roots.

Numerous athletes from MMA’s leading promotion have appeared on the mats across the primary six Real American Freestyle events.

Henry Cejudo defeated Urijah Faber at RAF06, which also featured UFC lightweight star Arman Tsarukyan. The likes of Bo Nickal, Colby Covington, Benson Henderson, and Luke Rockhold have also competed.

It seems like ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ may very well be open to joining that list within the near future.

After Nickal’s return was announced when the UFC White House card was revealed last Saturday, the middleweight prospect appeared on the Pound 4 Pound podcast with Usman and Cejudo.

Having been booked to fight Kyle Daukaus in Washington D.C. on June 14, the inaugural RAF light heavyweight champion could also be absent from the mats in the interim.

When he’s back in RAF, though, Nickal knows one among the names he would like to face.

“They threw your name out to me,” he told Usman. “We are able to make it occur.

“I heard you desired to get back to your roots.

“They’ve got some serious funding now,” he continued. “I feel that will be great for the fans.”

The previous UFC welterweight champion was surprised to listen to that his name had come up but appeared open to reaching a future agreement.

“Oh, word?! Okay, possibly it’s a phone call, I would like to make a phone call.”

Usman is currently with out a UFC booking and appears set to miss out on getting the primary shot at latest welterweight champion Islam Makhachev.

The subsequent RAF event is ready to happen on March 28 on the Yuengling Center of University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida.

Tsarukyan’s bad-blood rematch with Georgio Poullas will likely be the most important event, with a clash between Covington and the polarizing Dillon Danis currently planned because the co-headliner.
