NHL Rumors: Florida Panthers Listening on Sergei Bobrovsky But Will He Be Traded?

Anthony Stewart: “So with all of the posturing going backwards and forwards, are you surprised Sergei Bobrovsky was not moved , and typically, the shortage of goalie movement, or those are some difficult deals to do with at some point to get it done?”

Dave Pagnotta: “Yeah, yeah, it’s. And also you began to listen to more goalie names sort of popping up. It wasn’t just those guys. It (Jesper) Wallstedt with Minnesota. I mean, you’ve (Anthony) Stolarz with Toronto. His name began popping up a bit. I discussed (Samuel) Montembault. There are just a few different pieces that began coming into play as teams sort of explored what those options is perhaps.

And with Bob, I still consider he’s going to stay around there. I still consider that there’s two, possibly a three-year extension that might come into play once, the dust settles on deadline season and all of that. But,  there was some chatter of Montreal. There was chatter of San Jose.

After all, there’s the most important consult with, and I’m sure there have been conversations that were there, but I don’t think it truly intensified to the purpose where it was getting close. Although there was, I feel one team told me that consider Florida was willing to retain half of that $10 million cap and facilitate this deal for this season.

NHL Rumors: Florida Panthers Wish to Keep Sergei Bobrovsky

But again, it didn’t get there. I’m not overly shocked that Bob stuck around. A bit of bit surprised, there was a whole lot of interest in A.J. Greer. And clearly, Florida had some particular price that they wanted to fulfill. Didn’t get there, and so they’re going to, I consider, explore an extension with Greer once things calm down.”

NHLRumors.com Note: The Florida Panthers kept each A.J. Greer and Sergei Bobrovsky heading into the deadline. Nevertheless, there was no such talk earlier within the season when everyone knew their situations. It wasn’t a giant deal at the start of the season, especially for Bobrovsky, and it was more of a ploy by his agent to get talks rolling.

Nevertheless, Bobrovsky doesn’t negotiate in-season and desired to be in Florida. As Paul Maurice and GM Bill Zito have stated, he’s the backbone of the organization. He’s the muse. The players want him to be there. Bobrovsky told the team he desires to be there and didn’t wish to get traded. Expect a two to three-year deal somewhere within the $6 million to $7.5 million AAV range.

As for A.J. Greer, the assumption is that he’ll get a mid-range deal within the $2 million range. However the Panthers wish to keep him as well.
