Who’s the higher batter – Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma?

Well, it’s an issue that continues to trigger passionate, sometimes heated, debates. What’s certain is that the duo will go down in history as two of the best cricketers to have represented India on the international level.

Their greatness isn’t limited to international cricket, though. Each Rohit and Kohli, who’ve been a part of the IPL since its inception in 2008, have develop into the T20 league’s bona fide legends. Kohli, with 8,661 runs, is the tournament’s leading run-getter in history, while Rohit follows him in second place with 7,046 runs.

For former England captain Michael Vaughan, though, there’s a transparent No. 1 batter in IPL history.

“There’s been a number of,” the Ashes-winning skipper told Cricbuzz when asked to choose the IPL’s biggest batter. “I mean, the ‘Universe Boss’ Chris Gayle, Suresh Raina has been exceptional, Rohit Sharma, Jos Buttler has been great. But there’s just one, and that’s Virat Kohli. He’s been a star for a lot of, a few years and he’s still going, so it’s Virat Kohli.”

Vaughan also rates Jasprit Bumrah as the best bowler in IPL history.

“Rashid Khan’s been pretty good. Lasith Malinga. But I keep saying the most effective I’ve ever seen is Jasprit Bumrah,” he said.

While Vaughan feels the Mumbai Indians are the IPL’s biggest team as they create the ‘wow’ factor, he rates Chennai Super Kings’ MS Dhoni as the higher captain ahead of Mumbai Indians’ Rohit, despite each having won the tournament five times each as skipper.

Through the years, the league has produced several memorable moments, and for Vaughan, the late Shane Warne lifting the IPL trophy within the inaugural season ranks right at the highest.

“I actually have to go right back to the beginning when Shane Warne was captaining the Rajasthan Royals, a team with the bottom budget. They called it ‘Moneyball’ on the time. He gathered a bunch of players together and got the job done. He got the trophy in his hands. In order that first 12 months, when Shane Warne lifted the trophy for Rajasthan Royals,” he said.
