Uncertainty has emerged surrounding WWE’s upcoming Night of Champions pay-per-view event in Saudi Arabia.
Based on a report from POST Wrestling, the show is currently scheduled for June 27. Nonetheless, that date could also be subject to alter on account of the continuing military conflict involving Iran.
Recent developments have already impacted other major events within the region. Tom Brady’s Flag Football game, originally planned for March, and multiple Formula One events set for April have each been relocated outside of Saudi Arabia on account of the situation.
Brandon Thurston noted that neither WWE nor Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority has responded to inquiries regarding a possible postponement or cancellation of Night of Champions amid the conflict.
Tensions have escalated significantly in recent weeks, with Riyadh reportedly targeted by Iranian counterattacks following the outbreak of major hostilities in late February. In early March, the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh was also struck by an Iranian drone.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding Night of Champions, WWE still has long-term plans for the region, including hosting WWE WrestleMania 43 in Saudi Arabia.
