Former India batter Cheteshwar Pujara said that Sunrisers Hyderabad need to handle their struggles in away matches despite having one of the destructive batting line-ups, as they’re all set to play within the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, which can begin on March 28.

“SRH are a really destructive side and rating quite a lot of runs once they play at home in Hyderabad. But away from home, their record could be very poor. After they play away matches, they fail to take care of their destructive batting intent,” Pujara told Jio Hotstar.

“That’s because all of the teams know that SRH depend on their batting power to set big totals. Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, and Heinrich Klaasen are their predominant batters. Once they get dismissed, SRH struggles to get going. That’s where the opposition teams make the most and stop them from putting up big totals. That’s something they are going to need to work on,” he added.

At the identical time, Cheteshwar Pujara also applauded the opening duo of Abhishek Sharma and Head, stating them one of the destructive pairs the league has seen.

“Within the last couple of seasons, what we now have seen from the openers of Sunrisers Hyderabad, Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head, I can definitely say they’re one of the destructive opening pairs in IPL history. Each are batters who know the best way to attack from ball one,” he said.

“SRH has consistently crossed the 250-run mark within the last couple of seasons due to them. No other team within the IPL has done that consistently. That is just due to the two openers. Smashing the ball all around the park and doing it usually is what makes them special. After we speak about aggressive opening pairs within the IPL, the pair of Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli involves mind. But this duo of Head and Abhishek is much more destructive. No bowler desires to run in and bowl against a gap pair like Abhishek and Head,” he concluded.

Nonetheless, SRH had a poor campaign within the last season, where they won only six games out of the 14 matches they played. They finished in sixth position as well.
