Reece James and Trevoh Chalobah have been ruled out of Chelsea’s Premier League match against Everton on Saturday as a consequence of injury.

Chalobah was stretchered off with an ankle injury during Chelsea’s 3-0 defeat at home to Paris Saint-Germain within the Champions League on Tuesday night.

James, meanwhile, injured his hamstring in the course of the defeat to Newcastle United last Saturday and missed the loss to PSG at Stamford Bridge this week.

During his pre-match press conference on Thursday, Rosenior issued an update on each Chalobah and James ahead of his side’s trip to Everton this weekend.

‘It wasn’t until later after the sport that I saw the image. I feel everyone’s seen it and then you definitely’re really, really frightened for the subsequent day,’ Rosenior said.

‘Obviously, it’s never good that Trevoh is out for any time frame, but fortunately, it’s nowhere near as serious as we first feared. It’s still a serious injury but we’re a period of perhaps six weeks, which is disappointing.

‘But from where we were a few days ago, straight after the sport, yeah, we’re in a greater place than what we were before.’

On goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen and James, Rosenior said: ‘Filip had his scan and needed a minor operation. It’s a matter of weeks.

‘We’re going to look more at Reece more after the international break. It’s not serious but there’s something in his hamstring we’re going to have a look at it after the break.’
