In recent months, together with his profession coming to an in depth, loads has been said about AJ Styles’ time in TNA. Amongst the various friends he made there was Christopher Joseph Park, higher known by fans as Abyss, who now works in WWE as a producer. In line with Styles on an episode of his recent podcast “Phenomenally Retro,” Abyss almost made a distinguished in-ring appearance for the corporate.
“There was a moment in time where we thought we were gonna have him within the Royal Rumble,” Styles said. “It didn’t undergo. I hate that for him. I wish it had. It could’ve been identical to, ‘Ah! Okay.’ A stamp on Abyss, the character, finally making it to WWE to wrestle. I might’ve loved that but I assume anyone didn’t agree.”
The WWE star didn’t specify who pulled the plug on the looks, or which yr it was discussed for. As of today, Abyss has not wrestled since 2019, when he joined WWE in a backstage role after wrapping up an in-ring profession that began in 1996. Last yr, Park confirmed that he was firmly retired, with no plans of getting back into the ring for an additional match.
Styles also praised Abyss as one among his favorite opponents, specifically recalling TNA Lockdown 2005, when the 2 of them wrestled a steel cage foremost event match for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship.
“I actually think that was a superb match based on what we needed to work with,” Styles continued. “[Abyss] was probably one among the higher big men, definitely, that I’ve ever wrestled. He is true up there in my top 5 of massive men that may do all of it, and was willing to do it, and will go, and had great moves, and a special character. He was so good, man.”
