Dustin Rhodes’ return from the double knee surgery he underwent in August could also be approaching sooner moderately than later. He has been sidelined since July, when Kyle Fletcher defeated him for the TNT Championship.
As of March 6, “The Natural” was said to be feeling good along with his latest knees and was longing for an in-ring return inside a few weeks. That timeline now appears increasingly realistic. In response to a report from Pwinsider, Rhodes was backstage at recent episodes of AEW Dynamite and AEW Collision.
His presence backstage is an encouraging sign up his recovery. The report also noted that Rhodes was seen running the ropes to check his progress, with fellow talent pleased to see him back around. The AEW Dynasty pay-per-view event on April 12 is emerging as a possible goal for his return, if not sooner to start constructing toward a storyline.
Spending time backstage in a non-wrestling role could also hint at a future transition into producing once he steps away from full-time competition. At 56 years old, Rhodes is nearing the latter stages of his in-ring profession.
Rhodes has previously stated that he plans to retire as a part of AEW, though he stays open to his Goldust persona being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame after his profession involves an end.
