They could not wish to pay his asking price, and will want to recoup some assets. Don’t think they’d have acquired Roy in the event that they had known they’d also find a way to get Nazem Kadri.

Now, in the event that they can get Drury signed to a multi-year deal at an inexpensive number, they may keep as a No. 4 center and move Roy to the wing on the third and as an option at center if need be. Drury is an RFA and principally was the one free agent who didn’t get an extension. Parker Kelly, Josh Manson, Sam Malinski, Scott Wedgewood, Martin Necas, and Gavin Brindley. Just speculating, but wonder if the Avs did have talks with Drury, but couldn’t agree on a number.
