Dillon Danis has put his friendliness with Colby Covington to the side with a view to start increase their wrestling match this weekend.
The 2 welterweights are known for being a few of the most aggressive trash talkers in MMA – each arguably more famous for his or her mouths than their fists. But Covington has been taking a brand new tack with Danis, referring to his rival in glowing terms prior to their RAF Wrestling match on Saturday night.
Danis has, for his part, stayed relatively quiet in his promotion by simply sharing posters, training footage and pictures from his gym. But he has now taken a shot at Covington in much harsher tones than his rival has been using with him.

Dillon Danis finally kickstarts Colby Covington trash talk
It has been uncharacteristically friendly between Colby Covington and Dillon Danis since they announced a wrestling match for March 28 in Tampa, Florida. The duo are known for bitter feuds in MMA, however it appears that the UFC star is – for his part – trying on a brand new babyface role in RAF.
Covington was nothing but respectful of Luke Rockhold before and after their match last day out. And within the lead-up to this fight, he has been complimentary of Danis’ promotional abilities and his fighting skills, in addition to his efforts to battle Islam Makhachev and Khabib Nurmagomedov’s team at UFC 322.
Nevertheless, Danis has now taken his first big shot at Covington on social media. He shared an old photo of the previous interim welterweight champion with the caption “See you soon my b—-,” before deleting it as he is thought to do.
Colby Covington has been complimentary of Dillon Danis
It’s a far cry from how Covington has been speaking about Danis, telling MMAJunkie within the aftermath of their match announcement that he believes he’s facing an opponent with the strength of multiple fighters.
“He’s a powerful guy – he’s got the strength of 10 men,” Covington said, alluding to his brawl with the Dagestani team in Latest York last November. “He fought those 10 Dagestanis last time in that Khabib brawl, in order that’s someone that’s to not be underestimated and to be respected.
“So I respect Dillon. It’s going to be an important match. He has a whole lot of combat sports knowledge, a former champion. It’s going to be an important match and I’m excited to get out that on those RAF mats again. I feel this match goes to be a battle. He’s been working really hard.
“He’s been attempting to get into UFC and get these big matches. We saw him beat up Logan Paul in boxing so bad that Logan has to sue him. He’s fought 10 guys before, those 10 Dagestanis, so he’s got the strength of 10 men. There’s no handouts on March 28. I’m going to should earn it the hard way.”
