Newcastle and England left-back Lewis Hall has reportedly emerged as a goal for Manchester United ahead of the summer transfer window.
Hall has established himself as a key component of Eddie Howe’s Newcastle side after completing a £35million switch from Chelsea in 2024 following an initial loan move.
Also comfortable playing in midfield, Hall’s versatility has proven invaluable over the course of his three years within the north east and he played an instrumental role last season because the Magpies won the Carabao Cup to finish their trophy drought.
However the 21-year-old has taken his game to a brand new level in recent months and he appears a shoo-in for England’s World Cup squad after being named in Thomas Tuchel’s 35-man party for the Three Lions’ upcoming friendlies with Uruguay and Japan.
Hall’s outstanding performances haven’t gone unnoticed by Newcastle’s rivals, though, and Sky Sports claim the Chelsea academy product now finds himself on Manchester United’s radar.
It’s claimed Hall has been placed on the Red Devils’ ever-growing shortlist of possible targets for the summer and ‘is a reputation United have been impressed with’ this term.
Old Trafford bosses are scouring the marketplace for potential reinforcements to support Luke Shaw in preparation for Champions League football next season, with the club sitting third within the Premier League table following a resurgence under Michael Carrick.

United are aware that closing a deal for Hall would likely prove tricky, with Newcastle in no hurry to money in on a full-back still a way from approaching the height years of his profession.
Hall’s current contract at St James’ Park runs through to June 2029.
Should Hall go on and revel in a powerful campaign with England at this summer’s World Cup, his market value is definite to soar and United might not be the one team to investigate over his availability.

‘It might probably be quite nerve-racking knowing that that is the last opportunity to possibly impress,’ Hall told reporters ahead of England’s upcoming double-header with Uruguay and Japan.
‘But at the identical time, I feel you play so many games within the season, I feel all of them know the best way that you just wish to play.
‘And I feel that is just one other likelihood for you to indicate not only what you may do on the pitch, but what you’re like off the pitch.
‘And I feel in case you can spread positivity across the group, and I feel he’s at all times been keen on ensuring that everybody within the group has their part to play off the pitch.

‘So I’m just trying to be as glad as possible and revel in my football here. Hopefully it’ll put me in a very good position.’
Hall dismissed claims that his previous experience with Tuchel – who handed him his senior debut at Chelsea – could give him the sting over England’s other left-backs entering the World Cup.
‘Once I knew him back in my Chelsea days, I used to be obviously not quite within the first-team, but I used to be training quite frequently with them at a certain point,’ he explained.
‘He was the one who gave me my debut, so I used to be obviously incredibly grateful for that and that’ll be a memory that I’ll at all times have.’

He went on: ‘But I feel I’m a very different person now, completely different player now so I don’t necessarily read an excessive amount of into the past.
‘I do know he’s a terrific guy, so I’m looking forward to working with him again. He’s obviously a terrific coach.
‘For me personally, I just need to look to do my best here and learn from these players and from this coach.
‘Hopefully that may put me in a very good position.’
Hall will not be the one Premier League left-back to be linked with United in recent days. Myles Lewis-Skelly is reportedly being monitored by the Red Devils after dropping down the pecking order at Arsenal.
Crystal Palace’s Tyrick Mitchell and Fulham’s Antonee Robinson are also believed to be in United’s crosshairs as potential additions for next season.
One other player of interest is Alphonso Davies, who Bayern Munich are reportedly open to selling for the fitting price given the Canadian’s injury problems during the last 18 months.
