Delhi Capitals head coach Hemang Badani shared a special perspective concerning the Impact Player rule ahead of the Indian Premier League 2026.

“Cricket has evolved to a degree where 180s aren’t sufficient and you’ll have to have good starts at the highest. When you’ve passed by and seen what’s happened on the World Cup in recent times – our skipper winning it for the second time – you’ve seen scores of 250-240. We’ve also seen similar scores last 12 months with the IPL,” he said.

“I feel once we’ve had that Impact Player, though the World Cup doesn’t have the Impact Player, I feel it’s the intent that everybody shows of late. And that shall be the way in which forward with cricket on this format itself,” he further added.

“With Mitchell Starc, we’re waiting to listen to from Cricket Australia” – Hemang Badani

When he was asked for an update on star Pace bowler Mitchell Starc, Badani said that the team is waiting to listen to from Cricket Australia.

“With Mitchell Starc, we’re waiting to listen to from Cricket Australia. We’re waiting for the NOC from Cricket Australia. Once we get that, we’ll know what’s happening and when he’ll join us,” Hemang Badani concluded.
