United’s interest in Balde emerges with the club currently in a stand-off of sorts with Barcelona over the long run of Marcus Rashford.
The England international has spent the 2025-26 season on loan with the La Liga side and is wanting to make the move everlasting.
The loan move that took him to Catalonia included a purchase order option of £26million with Barcelona wanting to keep him.

But there may be growing speculation suggesting Barcelona are reluctant to fulfill that number and can try to renegotiate a cheaper price and even try to agree one other loan move for next season.
United is not going to budge nonetheless and is not going to enter any fresh talks over the terms of that proposed everlasting move.
United are prepared to let Rashford return to the first-team squad if Barcelona don’t pay up and are also confident they may negotiate a better fee with one other club with the intention to move him on.
While Rashford would favor to remain in Barcelona, he has not ruled out returning to Manchester with Michael Carrick considered open to integrating him should he be named everlasting manager this summer.
