The Secret Order’ Canceled at AMC (EXCLUSIVE)

“Talamasca: The Secret Order” has been canceled at AMC after only one season, Variety has learned exclusively.

“While we will not be proceeding with one other season of ‘Talamasca: The Secret Order,’ we’re pleased with the series and grateful for the efforts of everyone involved,” an AMC spokesperson said in a press release to Variety. “The Talamasca has a storied place inside the Anne Rice Immortal Universe, and we expect to see at the very least a few of these characters, and the organization itself, in future expressions of the franchise.”

This marks the primary time AMC has canceled a show inside what they’ve dubbed the Anne Rice Immortal Universe. The premium cabler originally acquired the rights to Rice’s works back in 2020. Since then, they’ve launched the shows “Interview with the Vampire” and “Mayfair Witches” along with “Talamasca.”

“Interview with the Vampire,” now called “The Vampire Lestat,” is returning for a 3rd season on June 7, while “Mayfair Witches” shall be back with its third season in early 2027.

“Talamasca” aired its six-episode first season starting in October 2025, with what’s now the series finale airing in late November. Nicholas Denton led the solid, which also included Elizabeth McGovern, William Fichtner, Maisie Richardson-Sellers and Celine Buckens. Jason Schwartzman guest starred, with each Eric Bogosian and Justin Kirk reprising their roles from “Interview with the Vampire” in guest star roles.

Per the official logline, the show followed Guy Anatole (Denton), who, “on the cusp of graduating law school, is approached by a representative of the Talamasca, a secretive agency that monitors and protects us from the supernatural world. When Guy learns that the Talamasca has been tracking him since his childhood, he falls headlong right into a world of secret agents and immortal beings who, thus far, have maintained a fragile balance with the mortal world.”

“Talamasca” was based on each “The Vampire Chronicles” and “The Lives of the Mayfair Witches.” John Lee Hancock developed the series and served as executive producer and co-showrunner alongside Mark Lafferty. Mark Johnson, who oversees the Immortal Universe for AMC, was also an executive producer, as was Tom Williams, Christopher Rice, and the late Anne Rice. Hancock was also a director on the series.
