Surprise – Vince Russo and Jonathan Coachman are complaining again!
Ronda Rousey’s AEW debut at Revolution 2026 debut generated significant buzz, but Vince Russo didn’t hold back in criticizing how the corporate reportedly managed her backstage.
During a recent edition of “The Coach and Bro Show,” Russo, as he normally does, criticized the way in which AEW handled Rousey’s debut. He said,
“Coach, you bought to know the backstory. First guys, years ago, they showed backstage footage of Adam Cole was returning to AEW after an extended absence due to an injury. They usually literally showed backstage Adam Cole showing up in a automobile. They immediately put him in a wheelchair and covered him with a black blanket and wheeled him throughout the back. They showed that — I saw this. So I’m like, ‘Bro, that’s the stupidest most ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen in my life. All my years in wrestling, we had a whole bunch of surprises. We never ever did that.’ Then I’m doing a show this morning and I’m smartened up — oh no. Oh no. They did that to Ronda Rousey. They sat Ronda Rousey in a wheelchair and covered her with a tarp and rolled her across the back.”
He added, “Primary, at what point does Ronda Rousey say, ‘Are you out of your effin’ mind, bro? I’m freakin’ Ronda Rousey. I’m not some wrestling mark.’ That’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard. Number two, that is your typical case, coach… you’re kayfabing yourself. Why wouldn’t you would like them to know Ronda Rousey goes to be on the show? Then guess what — you may get people to tune into the show. That’s called kayfabing yourself. They wanted Ronda to be this big surprise. Why? Why, bro? Advertise she’s going to be on the show. Don’t hide her. Get it on the market in social media. Oh my god — Ronda Rousey’s going to be on AEW — and guess what? Possibly you’ll have some more people watching the show. So throughout, bro, this was absolutely ridiculous.”
Throughout the same podcast, Russo and Coach slammed the buildup to WrestleMania 42. Coachman said,
“They’re going to throw matches on the market to fill that number that don’t have any storylines or no juice in anyway.”
Russo added, “That’s filler. Seven matches — Triple H is saying seven matches are filler. If we don’t have those matches by this time limit, then that’s filler. Coach, listen … I’m watching highlights of each of those shows. There are two things that they’re doing — either a brawl or a face-to-face promo. That’s it. That’s the road to WrestleMania. There will not be one single story. It’s either a brawl or we’re going to have a face-to-face promo. That’s it. And now you’re going to have seven matches which might be going to be nothing but filler.”
And at last, Jonathan Coachman isn’t a fan of Jade Cargill’s promo skills. He said,
“And likewise, Jade, who you set the world title on, you’re telling people, ‘Well, she’s not ok by herself’. Or perhaps her promos are telling that for you. God, she’s bad on the mic.”
