Dillon Danis has admitted that his mental health continues to be badly affected by his defeat to Logan Paul after almost three years.
The BJJ black belt made the switch to boxing in October of 2023 for a grudge match in Manchester that he made deeply personal with a bitter build-up. Legal proceedings are still ongoing between Danis and Paul’s now-wife Nina Agdal after his social media campaign against her ahead of the bout.
Describe Dillon Danis’ profession in a single word.
Tell us what you’re thinking that of the controversial grappling specialist below.
After months of ugly back-and-forth, Danis hardly threw a punch and lost every round to Paul in a farcical excuse for a fight. In the ultimate seconds, he went for a takedown and the ring was immediately crammed with security, with the result ending in a DQ defeat for the MMA fighter.
Dillon Danis opens up about brutal response to Logan Paul defeat
Since his defeat to Logan Paul, life has not been plain sailing for Dillon Danis. He had fights with KSI and Tony Ferguson cancelled in quick succession last yr, and after winning his MMA comeback against Warren Spencer in seconds, his next fight was called off after a brawl in Latest York at UFC 322.
He can be always reminded of that Misfits Boxing event through social media and his ongoing legal case with Agdal. Speaking with The Schmo, he explained that the defeat still plays on his mind and causes havoc together with his mental health.
“I still take into consideration that match every single day,” he admitted in a rare moment of honesty behind his bad guy persona. “I hate losing, I said this to Wade [Plemons] that it made me somewhat suicidal, still does. I hate losing and particularly to him.
“I might have been more prepared, it was my first boxing match but no excuses. It’s what it’s, we move on and we keep going.” Asked if he would do one other boxing match, he replied that he would fairly ‘stick with MMA’, where he’s undefeated at 3-0 with three submission victories across Bellator and Misfits MMA.
