Actor-comedian Vir Das is about to explore a brand new genre along with his next directorial enterprise, a found-footage horror film titled Baara Number. The project shall be backed by his banner, Zazu Productions, and marks a shift from his recent directorial debut Pleased Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos.

Baara Number will see Vir Das reunite with Kavi Shastri, with the 2 co-directing the film. The duo, known for his or her collaborative synergy, are expected to bring a definite storytelling approach to the horror space. In accordance with the announcement, the film is being developed as “a found footage horror narrative” that goals to maneuver “beyond conventional tropes.”
The film is scheduled to go on floors in June, with the primary shooting schedule planned in Mumbai. Continuing his preference for ensemble-driven narratives, Das may also feature as a part of a multi-character solid.
Speaking in regards to the project’s creative direction, the makers describe it as “a more layered and immersive narrative style,” adding that the film will mix “psychological depth with atmospheric storytelling.” The intention, they note, is to craft a story that explores “each external tension and internal human emotions,” offering a nuanced tackle fear moderately than relying solely on genre clichés.
The project has reportedly been in development for a while and is already drawing attention inside the industry because it prepares to enter production. With Baara Number, Das continues to expand his creative repertoire, transitioning from comedy into horror while maintaining a deal with narrative experimentation.
