Karl Eldrew Yulo bags floor exercise bronze in Cairo World Cup

MANILA, Philippines — Karl Eldrew Yulo won bronze in the ground exercise of the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup Series Cairo Leg final in Egypt on Sunday (Philippine time).

The 18-year-old Yulo scored 14.000 to secure a spot on the rostrum. Bulgaria’s Daniel Marinov ruled the event with 14.233 points, while Arsenii Dukhno was the runner-up with 14.133.

The primary-year pro gymnast finished fifth within the qualification round with 13.900 points to qualify for the ultimate.

Yulo will now shift his focus to the horizontal bar final on Monday.

The younger brother of two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo garnered 13.466 points on a 4.900 difficulty and eight.566 execution to complete third within the qualification.

Lower than a month ago, Eldrew claimed the gold in the ground exercise of the Antalya Leg in Turkey last March 14.
