Actor Manish Raisinghani, who’s popularly known for his impactful performances in shows like Kaahin Kissii Roz, Kahiin to Hoga, Kkehna Hai Kuch Mujhko, Teen Bahuraniyaan, Sasural Simar Ka, and Ek Shringaar-Swabhiman, amongst others, feels that as a show grows older, it’s essentially the most amazing thing because it becomes a certain comforting habit for each its makers and its audience. During an exclsuvie interaction with Bollywood Bubble, Manish spoke at length about it and the way the actual challenge lies in navigating this familiarity without being confined by it. He also added that that is where modes activate to maintain things interesting for ourselves and for the audiences.
Manish Raisinghani: “I Consider Longevity Does Not Limit Risk
Talking about navigating familiarities without being confined by it, Manish Raisinghani said, “I imagine longevity doesn’t limit risk; it just makes you more aware of it. The longer a show runs, the more it becomes a habit for the makers and the audience. And habits don’t like being disturbed. But storytelling may die in that comfort, if not re-invented day-after-day. So the trick is to take risks inside the grammar of the show and find recent possibilities in that character to be played around with. The thought is to respect the legacy but don’t let it develop into a cage.”
Asked how he brings spontaneity to a format that’s so structured and fast-paced, he said, “Structure is the skeleton; spontaneity is the heartbeat. The lines are written, the scenes are locked, but moments are still alive. A pause, a look, a slight shift in energy—that’s where spontaneity lives.”
Manish further added, “The thought is to serve the identical dish together with your own added flavors, and these flavors come from the character work seeds you sow over the time frame. The script is fixed; the soul is improvised. The stronger your character work, the higher you might be capable of improvise. And how you can make that character work broadly, give it a want, a fear, and a secret, and rather a lot starts erupting out of those wounds.”
Manish: Audience Loyalty Is Love, But It Can Often Turn out to be An Expectation
And he stressed that while audiences stay loyal to narratives, they stay only once they evolve. “Evolution is the secret. Stylized performances are still a treat to observe, however the realism which a Ranveer Singh and Ranbir Kapoor brings in has its own charm too, the concept i imagine is to evolve on a regular basis and deliver the type of performance the script demands”
“Audience loyalty is love, but love can often develop into an expectation. They arrive back because they recognize something, but they stay whenever you surprise them. So that you don’t break their trust; you evolve it. Give them what they love but never only what they expect,” Manish ended.
