Gucci Mane has done multiple prison stints, but he made his biggest comeback in May 2016 when he walked out of an Indiana penitentiary after serving three years on federal drug and gun charges. He got arrested back in September 2013, and his wife Keyshia Ka’oir made sure his first day trip was phenomenal. Gucci Gets Real About Navigating His Disorders

One thing fans love about Gucci is his openness and honesty about his personal struggles. In 2025, he revealed that doctors diagnosed him with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, and he opened up about each in his memoir, ‘Episodes: Diary Of A Recovering Mad Man.’

While appearing on ‘The Breakfast Club,’ Keyshia Ka’oir shared how she supports him by deleting certain apps from his phone. Gucci also explained that he selected to distance himself from friends to guard his peace. He said he thinks drugs and stress likely triggered a few of his struggles, though he believes multiple aspects played a job. Gucci also revealed that he experienced a serious episode throughout the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and that moment pushed him to finally seek skilled help.

“After that, I used to be like, man, I got to actually just hold myself accountable and maintain my health. I don’t ever need to have an episode again. If I actually have to see a therapist, if I actually have to take medicine […] I kinda threw the towel in, like, do what I would like to do to recuperate.”
