The Colorado Avalanche have won the Presidents’ Trophy and might be the highest seed within the NHL as they prepare for the First Round. Moreover, Nathan MacKinnon has officially won the Rocket Richard Trophy after ending with essentially the most goals within the NHL this season, in response to a post by the Avalanche account on X.
“He’s a Rocket man! Congratulations to Nathan MacKinnon winning the Maurice ‘Rocket’ Richard Trophy!” the Avalanche wrote on X.
MacKinnon finished with 53 goals, which was also a profession high for him, after he netted 51 two seasons ago. Throughout the season, he has been on a tear, not going often without either putting a puck at the back of the web or assisting on one. MacKinnon has thrived fidgeting with Martin Necas, because the two have meshed well together. Moreover, he has gotten much more dangerous for the reason that Avs reacquired Nazem Kadri. Twiddling with Kadri has improved the facility play, strengthening what was previously a weakness.
MacKinnon will now look to construct on that momentum and take it into the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Facing off against the Los Angeles Kings, he’ll team with Necas and Artturi Lehkonen to attempt to generate more possibilities. MacKinnon will hope to do what he did throughout the 2021-22 season, the last time the Avalanche won the Stanley Cup. During that stretch, he netted 13 goals and 11 assists across 20 games.
With the regular season concluded, the main target is now on the Rocket Richard Trophy winner being a scoring threat against a team that clamps down on defense. Through the regular season, MacKinnon generated two goals and 4 assists across three games against the Kings. If he can replicate those numbers, the Avs likely will advance pretty quickly.
