Patrick Muldoon had a tight-knit family unit prior to his death.
Multiple outlets confirmed on April 20, 2026, that Muldoon died at age 57 after suffering a heart attack.
The actor was known for his roles as Austin Reed on Days of Our Lives, which he originated in 1992. Muldoon played the part until 1995 before returning to the soap in 2011. The late star also had a notable role as Richard Hart on Melrose Place from 1995 to 1996.
Prior to his time within the highlight, Muldoon had a fairly normal upbringing in San Pedro, California. After graduating from the University of Southern California in 1991, Muldoon kicked off his acting profession. He was also a successful musician, playing guitar and singing for The Sleeping Masses.
Muldoon is survived by his parents, sister and girlfriend.

Muldoon later shut down the concept during an October 2025 episode of the “MisSpelling” podcast.
“We dated on and off within the ’90s, but since then, it’s been just friendship,” Muldoon said on the time, confirming that he was in a relationship.
