Kevin Costner reportedly faces a severe financial crisis after his $100 million project “Horizon: An American Saga” flopped on the box office.

The film’s poor performance has allegedly put Costner’s Santa Barbara estate in danger and caused a delay in future installments of the movie.

Kevin Costner invested $38 million of his own money within the film and can also be fresh out of a costly divorce, where he was ordered to pay $63,209 monthly in child support.

In accordance with Radar Online, Costner’s daring move to take a position personal funds in his $100 million, four-film project, “Horizon: An American Saga,” has put his lavish Santa Barbara estate in danger.

Despite the initial hype and a powerful 11-minute standing ovation on the Cannes Film Festival, the primary film within the series only managed to drag in $11 million during its opening weekend.

This poor performance has led Latest Line Cinema to delay the discharge of the second installment, initially scheduled for August. It has also inadvertently solid a shadow over the complete project and threatens Costner’s prized estate.

Sources near the 69-year-old actor claim that he ignored multiple warnings against using his funds and ended up pouring $38 million of his savings into the project.

An insider said: “Kevin might be worn out by this disaster. Everyone warned him not to take a position his own money, but he ignored the recommendation and ended up sinking $38 million of his own money into it. Now he can kiss all that cash goodbye!”

As “Horizon 1” teeters on the point of box office failure, Costner reportedly stands to lose a major chunk of his fortune.

A source told Radar that despite the actor admitting to being “not a excellent businessman,” he selected to disregard the guidance of experts, including his own accountant.

“Kevin mortgaged his ten-acre Santa Barbara ranch on the water to fund this dream,” the source said.

“He’s stubborn and refuses to hearken to anyone,” they continued. “Nobody believes in themselves greater than Kevin, despite the fact that he became a laughingstock after his flop ‘Waterworld.'”

Costner is reportedly disheartened after “Horizon,” which currently has a rating of 48% on Rotten Tomatoes, bombed on the box office.

An insider told Life & Style magazine, “He really believed in these movies, still does, and is taking the news pretty hard.”

In Costner’s earlier comments to Entertainment Weekly, he acknowledged that while a successful “Horizon” would boost his ego, its underperformance would not devastate him.

“I’ve lived with movies and what happens to them on their opening weekend,” he said. “If we put a lot pressure on that, we’re sure to be dissatisfied.”

He continued, “I’m really glad that ‘Horizon’ looks like what it’s speculated to seem like, and that is the way in which it’ll look the remaining of its life. And that is really essential to me on this process.”

Costner concluded his remarks, saying, “Would I really like that it could be highly, highly successful? In fact, I’d like that. My ego would love that; everyone would love that. But I’m happiest that the movie that you simply and I are talking about looks the way in which I need it to look.”

‘Horizon 2’ Was Pulled From August Theatrical Release

Costner has postponed the discharge date of his Western film “Horizon: An American Saga- Chapter 2” from its scheduled date of August 16.

In accordance with The Hollywood Reporter, the film was faraway from the discharge calendar for the 12 months after the primary film, “Horizon: An American Saga—Chapter 1,” performed poorly in its theatrical debut in late June.

After discussions between the production and distribution firms, Costner’s Territory Pictures and Latest Line Cinema decided to postpone the second film.

This could give the primary film more time to grow its audience base, leading to higher numbers when Chapter 2 finally drops in theatres.

To assist with audience growth, Costner and Latest Line Cinema will release Chapter 1 to home audiences through Premium VOD on July 16 and in a while MAX. The film may also remain available to observe in theaters in the intervening time as they work on marketing and promotion.

“Horizon Chapter 1” opened in theaters over the June 28-30 weekend and earned just $11 million, a surprisingly low number. The film, which has a run time of three hours and one minute, had a $100 million budget and was expected to rake in additional significant numbers.

Unfortunately, “Horizon 1’s” debut was affected by a poor B- CinemaScore and negative reviews from film critics. By its second weekend, the film’s earnings fell by one other 51 percent to usher in $5.4 million and a 10-day domestic total of $22 million.

“Horizon 1” also didn’t attract overseas viewers and has only earned lower than $3 million. The second film cost about $100 million to make, and Costner plans to resume filming the third film later this 12 months. Nonetheless, he needs to construct an audience if the following movies are to do any higher.
