Mohamed Salah could have played his last game for Liverpool after he was forced off with a hamstring injury within the win over Crystal Palace.

Liverpool gave their hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League an enormous boost with a 3-1 win over the Eagles with Alexander Isak, Andy Robertson and Florian Wirtz on course at Anfield.

However the afternoon was marred somewhat with Salah suffering what gave the impression to be a hamstring injury just before the hour mark.

Salah will leave the Reds at the tip of the season, closing the curtains on a unprecedented nine-year profession on Merseyside.

However the injury suffered against Palace could bring a premature end to his season – starting with the trip to Manchester United next weekend where Salah has been so lethal over time.

While Liverpool are still waiting to learn the extent of the difficulty, Arne Slot admitted the sight of Salah being unable to proceed has him fearing the worst.

‘One other win and one other injury,’ Slot told Sky Sports. ‘It’s the story of our season.

‘It’s too early to say but everyone knows Mo and the way hard it’s for him to go away the pitch.

‘For Mo to go away the pitch, it shows you something but we now have to attend and see how bad it’s.’

Salah has scored a remarkable 16 goals in 18 appearances against United over time, including a hat-trick in a famous 5-0 win at Old Trafford in 2021.

After their trip to Manchester, Liverpool tackle Chelsea at Anfield before travelling to Aston Villa of their penultimate game of the season.

They end their season at home to Brentford.
