Diego Simeone clashed with Ben White within the aftermath of Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid within the Champions League semi-final on Wednesday night.
Arsenal took the lead shortly before half time through Viktor Gyokeres’ penalty but Julian Alvarez’s spot kick within the 56th minute ensured that Atletico will take a draw to the Emirates Stadium for the return leg next Tuesday.
The sport was not without controversy as before kick off, Arsenal were unhappy with the length of the grass on the Metropolitano Stadium, while Mikel Arteta was furious with the choice to overturn Eberechi Eze’s penalty claim within the second half.
Referee Danny Makkelie initially awarded a penalty after David Hancko had made contact with Eze’s foot, nonetheless, the Dutch official reversed his decision after reviewing the incident on the VAR screen.

After the full-time whistle, tensions rose once more after White walked over Atletico’s badge – an indication of disrespect – within the tunnel area as he made his way back to the dressing room.
Giuliano Simeone, who’s Diego Simeone’s youngest son, was offended by White’s gesture and approached the Arsenal defender.
