Meghan McCain Says Spencer Pratt Will Win L.A. Mayor Race

Meghan McCain predicted an enormous upset victory for The Hills star Spencer Pratt within the Los Angeles mayoral race.

“I’m telling you this guy goes to win,” McCain, 41, wrote via X on Wednesday, April 29.

The previous View panelist responded enthusiastically to a brand new campaign ad from Pratt, 42, where he visited Mayor Karen Bass and rival candidate Councilwoman Nithya Raman’s L.A.-area homes.

“That is where Mayor Bass lives. Notice something? Or, here where Nithya Raman’s $3 million mansion sits,” he declares. “They don’t should live within the mess they’ve created.”

Spencer Pratt joining The Hills was no coincidence. Pratt details his entire TV journey in his upcoming book, The Guy You Loved to Hate, out January 27, starting with the short-lived Princes of Malibu, a show he sold to Fox starring his best friend Brody Jenner. When Princes didn’t last after Jenner’s mom, Linda Thompson, […]

The ad then cut to Pratt standing in front of a trailer where he and wife Heidi Montag lived after they lost their homes within the 2025 California wildfires. (Pratt and Montag share two children: Gunner Stone Pratt, 8, and Ryker Rock Pratt, 3.)

“That is where I live,” he said in a scene outside the trailer. “They let my home burn down. I do know what the implications of failed leadership are. That’s why I’m running for mayor, for my sons and the remainder of us Angelenos who wish to stop these corrupt politicians from destroying our city. We’re going to get the golden age of Los Angeles back.”

Us Weekly has reached out to Mayor Bass and Councilwoman Raman’s campaigns for comment.

In January, Pratt announced his bid for Los Angeles mayor on the anniversary of the Palisades Fire, which killed 12 people and burned greater than 6,800 homes near Pacific Palisades, California.

“The system in Los Angeles isn’t struggling, it’s fundamentally broken,” Pratt said on the “They Let Us Burn” public demonstration. “It’s a machine designed to guard the people at the highest and the buddies they exchange favors with while the remainder of us drown in toxic smoke and ash. Business as usual is a death sentence for Los Angeles, and I’m done waiting for somebody to take real motion.”

Pratt has risen in recent polls to grow to be a legitimate contender within the race and received endorsements from Joe Rogan, The Hills costar Kristin Cavallari and podcaster Nick Viall, amongst others.

“That is more The Hills, but coming off of Laguna [Beach], I had a variety of people say, ‘Speak about Spencer running for mayor.’ So you understand what? Let’s discuss it,” Cavallari, 39, teased throughout the April 21 episode of her “Let’s Be Honest” podcast. “I feel Spencer running for mayor is f***ing genius. Because I feel everyone in politics — I don’t care what side you’re on — everyone seems to be corrupt.”

Spencer’s sister and former The Hills costar, Stephanie Pratt, was not supportive of the campaign, urging Los Angeles voters to not elect “one other unqualified and inexperienced mayor.”

“A vote for him is a vote for stupidity,” Stephanie, 40, tweeted on February 14. “He’s just attempting to stay famous and sell his memoir don’t be fooled. In a really perfect world the palisades would have their very own mayor and police department. I’d love [for] him to be mayor of [the] Palisades but not LA with 4 million people. I’d be impressed if a republican could turn LA democrats thb.”

She went on, “At the least hire someone with work experience who wasn’t in a cult. I’m WORRIED about LA. I even have no problem with Spencer playing government but our city needs help.”

Community actress Yvette Nicole Brown was one other dissenting voice, complaining via Threads on Thursday, April 24, that Pratt’s fundraising success proved that “this nation is unserious and has learned nothing,” seemingly likening the Hills star’s campaign to reality star-turned-politician President Donald Trump.
